Founded by Master Builders Victoria (MBV) in 2010, the Building and Construction Foundation is an independent charity committed to empowering individuals to pursue meaningful careers in the construction industry. Our mission is to eliminate financial and social barriers to education and employment, enabling people from underrepresented and marginalised communities to access opportunities in the sector. By doing so, we aim to create a more diverse, inclusive, and skilled workforce that reflects the diversity of our society.
Our Foundation is dedicated to building a future where everyone, regardless of background or personal circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive in the construction industry. We do this by providing scholarships, mentorship, and community support programs tailored to individuals facing socio-economic disadvantages or hardships. Our approach focuses on breaking cycles of poverty and disengagement by equipping individuals with the education, training, and work opportunities they need to build successful careers.
The Foundation’s impact is realised through our targeted scholarships and community initiatives:
1. Early Career Scholarship – Offering $2,500 to individuals embarking on apprenticeships or pre-apprenticeships in skilled trades, helping them gain the foundational skills needed for a successful career in construction.
2. Leadership Scholarship – Providing up to $5,000 for those pursuing construction-related diplomas or degrees, fostering the next generation of leaders in the industry.
Beyond financial support, we are deeply committed to community engagement. Our projects provide mentorship, skills development, and hands-on training for women, Indigenous Australians, refugees, immigrants, and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. These initiatives are designed to ensure that individuals not only enter the industry but have the resources and support to thrive and excel.
As our founding organisation, MBV continues to support the Foundation in its mission to foster diversity, inclusion and opportunity within the construction industry. They provide resources and support, and actively sponsor three scholarships, demonstrating their commitment to nurturing talent and building an industry that values equity and opportunity.
