Much has been written in the media after several established building and construction companies have been liquidated this year due to rising material costs, supply chain delays, and labour shortages.

This perfect storm is causing mounting pressure on our industry.

The vast majority, if not all, of the state's builders, are experiencing a challenge to their profitability. We are calling it a profitless boom.

However, the number of building and construction insolvencies in 2022 must be put into perspective.

Master Builders Victoria (MBV) has celebrated NAIDOC Week as the organisation prepares to launch its first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

NAIDOC Week offers the building and construction industry an opportunity to learn about and participate in celebrations and activities of the oldest, continuous living culture on earth.

Victoria's building and construction sector has urged industry participants to seek mental health support when needed.  

While the building and construction industry is booming, it continues to bear the brunt of a mental health crisis. On average, a building or construction worker takes their own life every two days.
