Learn More About Master SuppliersThe scope of works called for the construction of a high-end contemporary home, sitting into a slight embankment and taking full advantage of the views to the surrounding hills. Given the feature porte cochere, entry bridge, main deck and horizon pool, the external design also boasts exceptional timber work, stone and other natural materials that blend effortlessly into the landscape. Internally, the first amongst many eye-grabbing features is the polished concrete floor. This then moves through to a magnificent open kitchen with its sleek design, utilising space and allowing for functionality. Floor-to-ceiling, double-glazed windows along with clerestory highlight glazing accentuate the openness via outstanding natural light.
Albury City Council requested a landmark public building, that will last the test of time and offer a contemporary and modern place to exhibit art. The first-class finish on the external façade is exceptional and a testament to the local contractors-- in particular, the care taken in planning, setting out, framing and installing the double-curved ply lining, internal-panel system, without damage. With the addition of a new two-level gallery with basement, the footprint of the building has substantially increased in size to include seven flexible exhibition spaces, an education workshop, permanent collection storage, an accessible loading dock, new restaurant and gift shop.
The clients were keen to develop an upper-floor loft area and deck in this 1940s home. The loft was to double as both a retreat area and as an observatory for night-sky viewing. The deck area was designed as an entertaining area, overlooking the established terraced garden. The prime consideration during the construction required that all works including structural engineering needed to fall within the confines of the existing ground floor, which was to remain intact and continue to operate as a habited living space. Given the location, fixtures and attention to the finishing details, this build represents outstanding value for money.
The brief called for works to improve the client’s standard of living without unnecessarily increasing the building footprint. The layout of the house has been treated virtually as a blank canvas while rearranging the floor plan. Living and kitchen areas have been relocated to the western end of the house, to take advantage of solar access from the north, through the use of large amounts of glass with sliding and stacker doors. Further works include establishing a north-facing pergola and paved deck including transforming the remaining part of the old sunroom to a functioning office. The bathroom has become an effective use of space with extensive new tiling and a walk-in shower, with a facility for a Japanese-style bathing.
This home has been designed for an active retired couple moving from a spacious home with large manicured gardens and a pool, to an inner-city, single-level abode with low-maintenance gardens and large open-plan living and entertaining areas. Being a heritage-listed building, the challenge was to recreate the original layout and more than double the size of the residence, while seamlessly connecting the new with the old. Traditional techniques and finely tuned skills are evident throughout, from the carefully crafted eave brackets, routed fascia boards and eaves trimmings, to the detailed archways and traditional solid doors and hardware selected for the build.
The Bahama boasts a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, double-garage, open-plan design allowing plenty of room for the family. Zone two is created as an entertainer’s delight boasting a large kitchen, meals area, formal dining and a large formal lounge that continues directly onto the outdoor alfresco area complete with fireplace.
The Retreat 35 features geometrical, ceiling-line windows on both ends of the house, which supply abundant light throughout the home and sky views. The study at the front of the house works well for the client’s home office. The unique u-shape design takes advantage of the north-east sun allowing light in through the large windows in the open living and meals area. The client has also achieved a very appealing-looking home from the outside, with the use of split-face block work on the façade with smooth-face corners.
Entering through the large 1200mm timber front door an abundance of space is apparent. Off to the left is the Master bedroom complete with his and her walk in robes and en-suite with long double stone vanity and full width mirror. Moving back out into the entry hall there is a double timber feature cavity door for the media room, a great place to relax. As with most of today’s homes the living, dining and kitchen area is the central hub of the home where the family can gather. The living and dining room are very spacious and overlook the great outdoor alfresco and pool areas.
The brief called for a four-bedroom home that presented a modern parapet façade with a skillion roof and a separate two-bedroom wing that can be closed off from the rest of the home. Leading through the main hallway to the rear of the home is the open-plan family, meals and kitchen area enjoying direct access via huge, glazed, stacker bi-folding doors to a multi-functional outdoor room. A separate formal living room boasts direct access to the pool verandah via glass sliding doors. Views out to the golf course through a cleverly placed corner window also add to the appeal of this room.
Purposely designed to take advantage of the natural bush surround, this home also provides a modern, efficient floor plan. Featuring four bedrooms, this house incorporates a clever layout featuring open-plan living and dining at the centre of the home, complete with a kitchen and butler’s walk-in pantry. Easy access from this area leads to the oversized alfresco area with high ceilings, complete with an outdoor kitchen and built in barbecue, ideal for entertaining on a large scale. Wide glass sliding doors to both sides of the living area create natural airflow cross- ventilation for summer nighttime cooling.
The distinctive design is reflective of the corner block position and the need to take full advantage of the prevailing views. The client was adamant that clean, crisp lines complement the sharply angled design of the floor plan. To achieve this, the plaster finishing, commercial window fabrication, two-pac kitchens with touch fittings and the skillion-roof design have been meticulously installed and finished. Floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows, along with clerestory highlight glazing, accentuate the openness via outstanding natural light. The integration of clever features means that from all areas of the home, the exceptional outdoor vista is experienced on every level.
The design brief required a signature home that blends on all levels with the landscape. The floor-to-ceiling double-glazed commercial windows not only add amazing light to all spaces and encapsulate the views, but also add thermal qualities to the home. Internally, the home has a combined kitchen- dining-living area central to the build. A standout feature of the living area is the distinctive, raised, open fireplace, with its polished concrete plinth-style hearth and complementary surround. The zoned bedroom areas are fully serviced by ensuites, fully tiled in flagstone-style tiling, and boast high-end fixtures.
Energy-efficient design was a primary factor from the outset, achieved by adhering to solar-passive design principles and orienting the rear of the house to the north for maximum solar gain in winter. The design adapts to the occupation level, meaning the house can suit low-occupancy, requiring less energy use, yet it can open itself up to the extended family when the occasion requires. A significant amount of care has been taken in choosing cost-effective materials that enhance the design thermally, including extensive use of plantation-grown pine, chosen specifically as a renewable resource that locks up carbon.
Works within this primary school project called for the construction of a year three-four centre, in addition to the refurbishment of two existing portable buildings, and the inclusion of a new connecting building with associated decks. The structure comprises timber framing, timber roof framing, framed internal partitions, commercial aluminum window frames and structural steel columns and rafters. The site functioned within an operational school environment, therefore site management needed to work safely within these constraints.
This Allied Health specialist building has been designed to complement the Stage One Daintree Medical Centre, whilst at the same time creating its own individual design features. Specific requirements called for a large, open reception area and space for patient seating, with two adjoining hallways that lead to the various specialist rooms and administration offices. With the use of light-grey colours, clean lines, feature glass, lighting and the contemporary design, the facility is open and inviting to the neighbouring and the surrounding environment. The floor plan was successfully designed according to the most efficient and effective use of space and specialists’ requirements.
The scope of works on this project called for the construction of a 34-bed aged care facility within a fully operational existing centre. Due to the architectural and structural requirements, this project required a lot of attention to detail and combined efforts from the supervisor and subcontractors. This entire project showcases the expert skills of the tradesmen, learnt through experience gained over many years. The client received great value for money by engaging Diverse Builders to undertake such a complex and high-quality project.
The project involved the major redevelopment of this heritage-listed art gallery. Works include demolition and asbestos/hazardous substance removal, installation of a lift and structural alterations and refurbishment to the existing buildings. A new two-level gallery building with basement has been built to the rear of the existing buildings. The building has substantially increased in size to include seven flexible exhibition spaces, an education workshop, permanent collection storage, an accessible loading dock, new restaurant and gift shop. The MAMA’s dual frontage on the main street establishes a cultural hub for the local community and visitors to the region.
