As the new year approaches, you may be starting to consider the direction of your career and the professional development opportunities you’ll want to undertake. With multiple training providers offering courses with similar descriptions, how do you decide what will be best for your needs and interests?
Instinct might tempt you to choose the least expensive course, or the one that promises the shortest delivery time, but you should take into account other factors when doing your research and making decisions.
Master Builders Association of Victoria operates an registered training Organisation (RTO) with its primary goal being to provide you with relevant, nationally recognised training and development solutions influenced and validated by your industry, and that build your career, business, skills, knowledge and, most of all, your professional reputation.
When it comes to selecting our trainers, we choose not to follow a ”jack of all trades” approach. Instead, our courses are run by industry professionals, with detailed knowledge in specific areas, with current industry expertise. In our longer qualifications, we have allocated each unit to trainers who have expert knowledge on that precise topic, rather than allocating the full course to just one trainer who may not have the same level of specific knowledge. We opt for quality over quantity, and for this reason we sometimes choose to reschedule classes rather than providing a “fill-in” trainer for the day.
You may already have had the experience of taking a course at our Building Leadership Simulation Centre (BLSC), which offers a state-of-the art learning environment. Our new and innovative offerings include sales and human resources courses and the introduction of simulation modules within the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building Construction (Building), making Master Builders the only training provider in Australia to offer this form of experiential learning.
Other inclusions and extras in our Certificate IV Building courses that distinguish Master Builders training as the best available include training and six months’ worth of access to estimating software that can be used for your projects, as well as builders registration assistance workshops that have helped many to achieve registration with a minimum of stress and difficulty.
Our qualifications are fast-tracked and are shorter in duration than those offered by other RTOs. This does not compromise your quality of learning; rather, Master Builders training requires our students to have a certain level of knowledge and experience in the construction industry prior to commencing coursework. This is measured by a pre-enrolment application and interview to ensure the course for which you are applying is the right one for you. Master Builders aims to produce the best builders in the industry.
Like your professional career, our training evolves constantly to meet both the demands of the industry and your requests for professional experience to meet that demand.
To that end, Master Builders has recently launched the Industry Future Skills Committee, which is tasked with the responsibility and challenge of identifying the newest training opportunities relevant to our sector, tracking emerging employment trends and helping to link state, national and international priorities and development for training and business innovation. The committee includes representatives from all Master Builders membership categories and invites suggestions for placement on their agenda.
Master Builders does not just react to changes in the industry, we research and anticipate them, identifying the gaps and developing the programs and expert trainers to close those gaps.
If you are looking to start an OHS or building, estimating or management qualification, Master Builders has a course to meet you needs. We also offer short courses on a range of topics that could meet personal development requirements or help in your everyday business, such as Preparing Tenders, Lead Auditor OHS, MS Project, Time Management and Plan Reading. If we don’t offer what you need, we can tailor courses for group training.
