Workers’ compensation can be a very complex area of business to deal with. It is hard enough to run a business and retain knowledge of the Building Act, the OHS Act and the Fair Work Act, let alone all of the relevant codes and standards that apply. And though the duties and obligations falling under the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation (WIRC) Act 2013 represent information an employer may need only when an injury occurs, it is still very important that they have a firm grasp of what needs to happen, and be able to take action swiftly.
In truth, managing a compensation claim is often no less frustrating for those with ample experience than it is for those grappling with the process for the first time. Business owners need to understand the WorkCover system and how it can work for them.
Many employers who have attended previous Master Builders one-day “warts and all” workers’ compensation workshops have attested to their value; many of them have reflected: “If only I’d known thenwhat I know now.” Do yourself the favour of collecting the information before you need it.
The Master Builders IR and OHS Units will be conducting a workshop on the management of WorkCover compensation and rehabilitation.
Date: Wednesday, 16 September 2015
Venue: Master Builders, Training Room 4 – First Floor, 332 Albert Street, East Melbourne
Time: 9am – 3pm
Cost: $100 per person (lunch provided)
This Q&A-style session will provide members with valuable advice, from an employer’s perspective, that will enable them to tackle every facet and possible scenario of this complicated subject, from the moment of injury to the significance of lingering effects that may arise even years later.
Master Builders encourages business owners and persons involved in the management of claims to attend.
