WorkSafe Victoria has launched a new  “safety values” advertising campaign. The campaign was developed by WorkSafe in consultation with employer association and union representatives, including the Master Builders OHS Unit.

The focus of the campaign is to encourage a positive and supportive environment within workplaces, where safety is openly discussed, promoted and celebrated and aims to contribute to a reduction in workplace injuries and claims.

The state-wide campaign will run until 19 September and will include TV, press, radio and online advertising as well as advertising at tram and bus stops and in office lifts. It will also include targeted communications to organisations within the healthcare, manufacturing and construction industries.

The campaign encourages people to reflect on the safety of their own workplaces. Every piece of communication will direct people to the web page – www.howsafeisyourworkplace.com.au where they are able to complete a self-assessment survey on the safety of their workplace. They will then receive practical advice and guidance to support improvements.

Members are reminded that they are entitled to free safety audits on their sites as part of their membership and businesses with fewer than 20 employees may also be eligible for up to three hours of free OHS advice through the WorkSafe-funded OHS Essentials Program. For further details contact the OHS Unit on (03) 9411 4569.
