Women, who are members of MBV, are invited to apply for a new scholarship launched by Women & Leadership Australia.
MBV supports initiatives helping women aspire to take on key leadership roles in our industry.
We know that more women in leadership roles will strengthen the building and construction sector and will go some way to closing the gender pay gap.
Women & Leadership Australia is all about championing women in leadership.
To support a pipeline of outstanding women leaders, Women & Leadership Australia is launching two leadership programs dedicated to emerging and mid-level leaders in manufacturing, building and construction, and engineering.
Up to 70 scholarships are now available for women in manufacturing, building and construction and engineering to participate in one of two high-impact leadership courses:
- Leading Edge: A four-month program enabling the transition of aspiring and early career women into confident, capable and motivated leaders.
- Executive Ready: A seven-month leadership and career accelerator designed to stretch mid-level leaders and rapidly propel them towards executive-level performance, behaviours, and mindsets.
These partial scholarships, valued at up to $3,000, enable more women in the manufacturing, building, construction and engineering sectors to access powerful and effective leadership development opportunities, focusing on the specific challenges and opportunities for women in these sectors.
MBV is committed to promoting gender equity in the building and construction sites.
Building and construction has been male-dominated, but that needs to change for our industry to become an attractive career option for women.
As a member of the Victorian Government’s Building Industry Consultative Council (BICC), MBV has been working with others in this group, including LendLease, Multiplex, and Master Plumbers, to advocate for more women in the building and construction industry.
Earlier this year, MBV CEO Rebecca Casson was appointed as Chairperson of the BICC in another first for women in the State’s building and construction industry.
The BICC has identified a real need for serious steps to increase the number of women employed in our industry, overseeing the development and delivery of the Building Gender Equality: Victoria’s Women in Construction Strategy 2019-2022.
The Strategy has been developed after extensive research and consultation with people across the industry, all of whom are committed to making it a success.
Greater diversity strengthens our workplaces, and a better representation of women in building and construction, especially in leadership positions, will benefit everyone in the industry.
