TS Constructions and DAS Construction Pty Ltd were given top honours on Friday evening at the South East Master Builders Regional Building Awards, held at Premiere Function Centre, Grey Street, Traralgon

TS Constructions was named Residential Builder of the Year (South East) for their delivery of a bright, brick-clad outpost overlooking the surf at Cape Woolamai. The multi-hued bricks are recycled, providing contrasting texture and colour to the sun-bleached landscape and sunny interior. Marble kitchen benchtops and glass-lined joinery complement Art Deco recycled doors.

“This single-level home is light and luxuriously sparse, directing attention to the hills on one side and the coast on the other,” Master Builder Association of Victoria CEO Radley de Silva said. “It’s a demonstration of the builder’s understanding of not just the physical characteristics of bricks and mortar, but their aesthetic impact as well.”

DAS Construction Pty Ltd was named Commercial Builder of the Year (South East) for their work on Newhaven College in Rhyll. With work including a pair of buildings, Newhaven College’s Senior Learning Centre and Specialist Facility have specialised uses including laboratories, art rooms and casual spaces for staff and students. The exterior is a project highlight, with the façade made off-site. The interior of each building features spacious and light-filled areas that will provide students with state-of-the-art functionality and comfortable styling.

“This project succeeds in many subtle but important ways,” Mr de Silva said. “The buildings pay respect to the natural character of Rhyll and surrounding Phillip Island by keeping the sky and landscape the dominant features.”

TS Constructions will now compete in the Victorian Excellence in Housing Awards to be held on 12 October in Melbourne. DAS Construction Pty Ltd will compete in the Victorian Excellence in Construction Awards to be held on 10 August.
