On 18 September, Master Builders hosted a joint meeting with the Housing, Country and MM&S Sector Group Committee at the Master Builders Victoria main office in East Melbourne. The purpose of such committee meetings is to consider policy matters in the building industry and give guidance on formulating policy positions at Master Builders. Consulting with committees enables direct member input into our lobbying and advocacy programme with government, regulators and other key stakeholders.
The meeting was chaired by Neil Grenfell, the Chair for the MM&S Sector Group Committee, and co-chaired by Steve Peluso, Chair of the Housing Sector Group Committee.
Attendance was high as members across different sectors of the building and construction industry came together to discuss wide-ranging issues important to the industry. The meeting, Colin McBurney of the Victorian Building Authority provided a Q and A session for committee members.
Other topics were covered such as OHS in which the Master Builders OHS Unit provided valuable new insight into safety trends within the industry. Sponsorship opportunities for members and upcoming special events, notably the industry luncheon with the State Opposition Leader the Hon. Matthew Guy, were also discussed. Finally, the meeting concluded with an update on the Master Builders’ strategy for the 2018 State Election.
