The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability. Members can become a registered provider with the NDIS to open up new opportunities for work.

The NDIS aims to provide 460,000 Australians with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life. It does so through a demand-driven, competitive, open-market process where Australians on the NDIS are able to make individual choices on the supports they require to address their individual needs. In response, businesses can then respond by providing products and services to meet this demand.

How can members benefit from the NDIS?

The NDIS has been made available in most regions in Victoria except for the following regions where the NDIS will be made available from 1 January 2019:

• Goulburn area (Greater Shepparton, Mitchell, Moira, Murrindindi, Strathbogie)
• Mallee area (Buloke, Gannawarra, Mildura, Swan Hill)
• Outer Gippsland area (East Gippsland, Wellington)
