Last Wednesday, 26 April, marked the launch of the Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV) program, an independent government agency that provides free services to help resolve domestic residential building disputes. The agency is available to both builders and homeowners and is invested with powers to make binding orders on all parties to achieve resolution.

DBDRV can help resolve disputes concerning the following:

• Construction
• Alterations and renovations
• Extensions
• Associated building work such as garages, driveways, swimming pools and spas
• Demolition
• Some types of home repairs
