On Friday 16 June, Signature Homes Geelong and Rendine Constructions Pty Ltd were given top honours at the South West Master Builders Regional Building Awards, held at The Pier, Geelong.

Signature Homes Geelong was named Residential Builder of the Year (South West) for their work on a smart-looking Newtown residence that reveals much about the personality of its owners.

“In addition to the stout construction concealed within its walls, this home presents itself as a crisp expression of how the owners enjoy spending time. Spaces move cleanly throughout the home occasionally revealing novel details like an indoor putting green and a poolside theatre,” Master Builders Association of Victoria CEO Radley de Silva said.

“This is a home that doesn’t hesitate to leave its signature on the neighbourhood,” Mr de Silva said.

Rendine Constructions Pty Ltd was named Commercial Builder of the Year (South West) for their construction of the new eastern hub for Karingal, a not-for-profit community support centre for disabled persons in Geelong. The entryway mixes shapes and a variety of materials such as steel, recycled timber in the formation of scissor columns, plywood and rammed-earth walls.

“Our judges admired this building’s departure from more typical institutional structures in this genre,” Mr de Silva said. “It offers a much more uplifting experience.”

Signature Homes Geelong will now compete in the Victorian Excellence in Housing Awards to be held on 13 October in Melbourne. Rendine Constructions Pty Ltd will compete in the Victorian Excellence in Construction Awards to be held on 4 August.
