The Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) Fund application round for 2019-20 has opened (with key dates outlined below).

The GAIC fund is designed to help fund essential state infrastructure where it is needed most – in Melbourne’s fastest growing suburbs in the seven major growth area councils.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) has prepared an updated Policy Statement and Application Guidelines for 2019-20.

  • The updated Policy Statement explains GAIC, what it can be spent on, how spending will be prioritised, and how funds will be allocated.
  • The updated Application Guidelines for 2019-20, which outline the legislative intent, funding priorities and application process to seek funding from GAIC.

Only state government departments or agencies (through their portfolio department) may apply for GAIC funds. All applications must be authorised by the responsible portfolio minister.

Growth area councils, developers and other interested parties are invited to propose priorities for infrastructure to be funded from GAIC, particularly where there is a proposal to share capital or operating costs. Proposals are encouraged to be directed to the appropriate department or agency for their consideration.
