Master Builders Australia (MBA) has released results of the latest National Survey of Building and Construction, showing that the industry, nationally, is currently facing weaker conditions. These weaker conditions are found mostly in the residential building sector, with the release of the Royal Commission’s Final Report into the banking industry, as well as the tightening credit conditions, as contributing factors. An ‘onerous planning approvals process’ was considered the most negative external factor affecting business performance.
The non-residential sector remains somewhat positive, with marginally favourable perceptions of current and future market conditions among MBA members. Population growth and strong full-time employment numbers are key factors to positive conditions in this sector.
