The Victorian Government's Expert Panel on Building Reform, chaired by Anna Cronin, the Commissioner for Better Regulation, has released a discussion paper that sets out the panel's plan to reform the building system.
The review will address the concerns and recommendations of the Cladding Taskforce and the Building Confidence Report in three stages.
Stage one will focus on the following key elements for reform:
• Practitioner registration and regulation
• Building approvals including roles and responsibilities of building surveyors
• Regulator roles and responsibilities
• Better consumer representation
The discussion paper is available on the Engage Victoria website and is open for comment until 19 May 2021.
