Learn More About Master SuppliersThe design evolved from EcoTecture Design Group executing the owner’s design, external facade ideas and orientation of rooms, to maximise the sweeping views of the Murray River and stunning river red gums. The builder was able to guide them through a number of decisions to simplify the plan which would allow them to build a home within their budget without compromising on build quality, fixtures and fittings. External facades were carefully executed to ensure a pleasing and quality finish was achieved. From the sharp znc bricks, which blend perfectly with the River Red Gums, to the rich, red and brown hues of ironbark, the structure was finished with a matrix painted in monument colour to also blend with the environment. The challenge of sourcing on-site red gum and preparing it to create masterpieces within the home was a very satisfying exercise.
The Bendigo Stadium expansion included new internal courts, including the main show court, and has both fixed and retractable seating housing up to 4000 spectators. The retractable seating banks offer flexibility in the design and space, to create various arrangements suitable for numerous types of local community, Australian and international events. The roofing material was sourced from an international supplier, and due to the complexity of the design, it was measured and rolled on site to suit each section of the roof. Due to the shape of the structure, the roofing had to be installed by abseiling down the curve face in a sequenced fashion. Roofing contractors had to obtain abseiling accreditation prior to the approval of this process. Fairbrother is fully committed to their customers with outstanding service and work of the highest quality.
The clients wanted to make a big impact with the external design and transform the house into modern architecture. This was achieved by extending and pitching the roof and making bold colour choices. The addition of a new timber deck complements the extension. The internal design was sleek, modern and minimal; the new kitchen, bathroom and laundry all complement the look. The addition of the floor-to-ceiling windows and raked ceiling let light in and create the illusion of the room being much larger than it is.
The home has been designed to entertain and accommodate a growing family while providing the owners with a functional and appealing home. Using the existing footprint, the lounge and second bedroom became the new master bedroom with a dual-access, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. The existing third bedroom became a laundry, storage, linen and a bathroom while the existing kitchen and fourth bedroom remained. A lounge was added in lieu of the existing decking and two new bedrooms were added. A large decking area running down the middle of the dwelling became the entertainment area and is accessed from both the dining and the lounge through French doors.
The Quarry Hill project began from a desire to rejuvenate the existing home and increase the size of the dwelling to service the needs of a young family. While inspired by the unique design of the original architecture, the concept included a complete roof removal and second- story extension, doubling the size of the dwelling without increasing the existing building footprint. Other key successes of the project include a unique design that enhances the streetscape, capitalises on the city and cathedral views, causes zero disturbance to vegetation and existing landscaping, and maintains minimal disruptions to the family household.

This uniquely designed project implemented several elements internally and externally to offset the native surrounds of the local natural reserve opposite the home. The facade makes the statement of the home nestled in the heart of Golden Square in Bendigo, comprising rustic, earthy and industrial materials. Internally, the home's entrance is warmed with a stunning, timber pivot-door, a featured recycled-brick wall and matte-black finishes which are consistently reflected throughout the home, flowing into the lounge/dining/kitchen/alfresco area and study nook area. From the outset, the clients have insisted on creating a unique, striking, functional and high-quality home. The home features a Hamptons façade which is achieved through a combination of Hardi-Plank, render, aluminium windows and gable venting. The living room is at the heart of the home and is comprised of the kitchen, dining and family areas. The facade is constructed from recycled bricks, vertical, spotted-gum timber cladding with lines continued with Dominion Colorbond Cladding.
The home was designed to take full advantage of the towering river red gums, and cleverly designed to provide a view of them from all living rooms and the master suite. Through an informal entry, the eye is cast directly through the main living area to the oversized residential windows which picture-frame a stunning outlook. With budget constraints, it was important to maximise that outlook without sacrificing quality. A mix of materials was used, which included the use of Colorbond iron, recycled, red bricks, Silvertop shiplap cladding and Hebel-clad end walls which were rendered and painted in the Dulux colour ‘Monument’.
Though the house is hidden from the street frontage, the clients wanted a distinctive, striking, functional and high-quality home. The concrete, masonry render/brick/Colorbond feature facade has a strong external presence and is considered the defining element of the build. This is combined with the Scyon linea cladding applied to the south elevation. The polished-concrete floor throughout also provides a modern but soft industrial feel to this wholly suburban home. Lastly, the multiple living spaces, which incorporate a gym, theatre room and sitting/dining area provide a feeling of grandeur and, in doing so, give this house a unique and original feel.
The home was built to give sweeping views across the landscaped garden, the natural surround of the Murray River and provide an overlook of their farmland. The home consists of three linked pavilions. Upon entry, the eye is drawn through floor-to-ceiling glass, across the pool and towards the river. The master suite consists of a grand bedroom, ensuite, dual walk-in wardrobes and a night retreat. The central open-plan living area offers a hostess kitchen with a large, integrated outdoor area—a grand space for family and friends. This links to the guest wing consisting of two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a rumpus retreat for guests.
The open-plan living design features large floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the views of the rolling valley, and provide an abundance of natural light. The heart of the home features a gourmet kitchen with integrated ovens, imported, Italian-stone bench tops and a commercial, integrated fridge. The internal living area overlooks the outdoor kitchen and tiled in-ground pool. The master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and high-end ensuite featuring floor-to-ceiling stone tiling. The home features a gallery to showcase the owners’ art and rare pieces from their collection; there is also an open and airy studio to be used for art classes.

The design allowed all available space to be maximised and to bring clean lines as well as privacy to the occupants. These units are a minimalist yet ultra modern reflection of what the owners envisaged.
