This morning, Master Builders Victoria (MBV) hosted the launch of the Victorian Government’s new Renewable Homes Construction Training scheme, designed to help residential trades and builders better understand how to design and construct 7-star rated energy efficient and all electric homes.
As of May 1, 2024, builders now need to comply with significant changes to the National Construction Code (NCC) in relation to liveability and 7-star homes.
The Victorian Government recently launched a grant to provide funding to eligible organisations to deliver a new training module to increase skills and knowledge to deliver the new code requirements and MBV along with the Housing Industry Association (HIA) were both successful in obtaining grants.
MBV CEO Michaela Lihou says the organisation will now be delivering the training in 17 regional and metro locations across Victoria.
“These are important and significant updates to the NCC, and we’re delighted to now be in a position to support the industry to appropriately upskill in design and construction to meet these new requirements,” she says.
This morning’s launch at the MBV’s Building Leadership Simulation Centre in South Melbourne was attended by the Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources, and Minister for Climate Action, Lily D’Ambrosio along with representatives from the HIA and Solar Victoria.
