Master Builders Victoria (MBV) has welcomed the full return of building and construction in Victoria later this week as the Victorian community moves towards the 70 per cent vaccination target.
MBV CEO Rebecca Casson said today’s announcement from the Victorian Government was terrific news for the building and construction industry, particularly for MBV’s small-scale construction and renovation members.
“MBV has continued to work closely with the Victorian Government on the workforce restrictions related to building and construction projects, and particularly on behalf of our small-scale construction and renovation members,” Ms Casson said.
“Given our industry’s huge contribution to reaching the Victorian community’s vaccination target, we have been advocating for all parts of our sector to be permitted to fully open - with no workforce limitations - when our community reaches the 70 per cent vaccination rate.
“Today’s announcement is great news for our whole sector and means that more people can now get back to work in our industry.
“It also means that more Victorians can now move into their new home by Christmas, and renovations can be completed in time to celebrate the New Year.
“Once again, MBV has been instrumental in securing this positive outcome for our members and industry. However, our work doesn’t stop there as we are continuing to advocate to the Victorian Government on the re-opening of display homes, sales suites, and colour selection centres.”
