WHAT’S THE LATEST WITH COMPANY REGISTRATION?
The VBA’s company registration process is something our members will be familiar with:
If you are a registered domestic builder your company will be automatically registered on 1 July 2018 if it meets the eligibility criteria and your registration is up to date. Master Builders advises that you double check your registration is accurate and in place.
The registration form is here.
WHAT IF MY COMPANY ISN’T REGISTERED ON 1 JULY?
If you’re not registered on 1 July 2018 and you’re a registered domestic builder with up-to-date registration you won’t be able to enter into a major domestic building contract in the company’s name or be named as the company on a building permit for major domestic building work, or any other building work costing over $10,000 (in most cases).
WHAT DO I DO TO GET MY COMPANY REGISTERED?
If you did not get automatically registered and you enter into major domestic building contracts, are named as the builder on building permits for major domestic building work, or any other building work costing over $10,000 then the next steps depend on your individual registration.
- If you are a DIRECTOR of your company and registered as anything other than a domestic builder you’ll need to complete the full application and pay the fee here.
- If you are a DIRECTOR but not a registered building practitioner certain other provisions may apply.
The VBA provides a set of resources on company registration here.
