The State Government has confirmed that it intends to move to compulsory QR check-ins for all workplaces, with some limited exceptions. The recent outbreak saw a large number of cases in office settings, and to further improve our State’s capacity to respond the State Government is seeking to move all organisations to its QR code service.
Though the State Government’s contact tracing team successfully chased down cases linked to workplaces - and companies have done a terrific job of record keeping within the rules - this would have been even quicker with mandatory QR codes.
We note that most other states don't mandate QR code use in non-customer facing workplaces, but the public health advice confirms that this will help our State get in front of any possible outbreaks in future.
Master Builders Victoria will continue to work with the Government on this issue as it evolves.
Also, please remember that workers who need to get tested and isolate while waiting for their results, or workers who are required to isolate because they test positive, or have been directed to isolate by the Department of Health because they are a close contact, may be entitled to support payments.
