Consumer Affairs Victoria is working with other regulators to inspect building, construction and demolition sites in Bendigo to ensure operators are complying with the law.

The Victorian Building Authority, WorkSafe, Energy Safe Victoria, Environment Protection Authority Victoria and Consumer Affairs Victoria are working together to launch the Build Aware program.

Build Aware aims to ensure practitioners understand their obligation to comply with building, construction, environment, plumbing, and occupational health and safety laws and regulations. Inspections will be conducted throughout the Bendigo region from Monday 17 October until Friday 21 October.

As a leading regional centre with a strong construction base, Bendigo was selected as the first destination for the program. Other regional centres will be visited in future.
