WorkSafe is planning to undertake a significant project in 2017 focusing on the WorkCover insurance compliance of employers operating in residential construction.
The project will target small business builders and subcontractors. The Master Builders OHS Unit, in conjunction with WorkSafe, will be running an information session to assist those who are unsure of their obligations.
Learning outcomes
WorkSafe will be conducting a four-month moratorium from September through to the end of December this year. The moratorium will provide employers with the chance to update their WorkCover insurance details with their insurance agent, or to take out insurance if they realise that they should be registered, without the fear of penalties being applied. The information session will also cover OHS responsibilities for subcontractors with discussions around recent events and OHS prosecutions that are relevant.
The workshop will focus on:
• WorkCover obligations for subcontractors
• Managing subcontractors OHS
• Other insurances needed
Who should attend: Small business builders and subcontractors.
Date: Tuesday 27 September 2016
