The latest ABS data on Victorian building approvals by region for June 2018 has been released.
While the state’s monthly fall in total building approvals is evident across all regions save the North West region, the quarterly fall in total building approvals in Victoria was centred in Greater Melbourne, Bendigo, Warrnambool and the South West. Percentage-wise, Bendigo experienced the largest drop in quarterly building approvals, at 29.1 per cent, followed by Greater Melbourne at 9.2 per cent and Warrnambool and South West at 2 per cent.
Other regions, however, had increases in approvals over the quarter with Geelong experiencing the largest percentage increase at 31.2 per cent, followed closely by Shepparton at 27.3 per cent.
All regions experienced growth in total building approvals over the year, with Hume, Bendigo, and Shepparton in the top three regions with the highest percentage growth, at 38.9 per cent, 38.8 per cent and 37.3 per cent respectively.
