Following advice from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, the lockdown in regional Victoria lifted from 11:59pm Monday 9 August.
The advice was made from Victoria’s Chief Health Officer as there were no new coronavirus cases in regional Victoria and thousands of primary closed contacts were cleared over the last few weeks.
The five reasons to leave home have been removed in regional Victoria and there are no restrictions on the distance regional Victorians can travel from home.
However, regional Victorians are only allowed to travel to Melbourne for a permitted purpose and are obligated to follow the Melbourne restrictions whilst there.
The rules that came into place for regional Victoria on Monday 9 August at 11:59pm were:
- Private gatherings in the home are still not permitted.
- Outdoor gatherings in public areas can happen with a maximum of 10 people.
- Face masks are still mandatory indoors and outdoors.
- Food and hospitality are open for seated service only, with a maximum of 100 people per venue.
- Venues smaller than 100sqm can have a maximum of 25 people before density requirements are required.
- Retail is open.
- Personal services (beauty, tattooing) are resumed.
- Face masks can be removed where necessary for the service to be completed
- Religious gatherings and ceremonies are allowed, with a maximum of 100 people indoors and 300 people outdoors per venue, and a 1 person per 4sqm density requirement.
- Weddings and funerals can have a maximum of 50 people per venue, not including infants under 12 months of age or the people required to perform the service.
- Community sport is open to everyone, including training and competition. Only the minimum number of players, coaches, referees, officials, caregivers or parents needed to train or compete are permitted to attend. Subject to a density of 1 person per 4sqm and a maximum of 100 people per indoor space.
- Entertainment venues can have a maximum of 300 people per outdoor space, with a density requirement of 1 person per 4sqm and a maximum of 100 people per space indoors. All entertainment venues are required to have a COVID Check-in Marshal to monitor patrons checking-in with the Service Victoria app.
