In April, Master Builders Association of Victoria, the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) and Property Council of Australia met with Victorian State Treasurer Tim Pallas MP to share concerns about facets of the Andrews Government’s “Homes for Victorians” package, the details of which are summarised here.

The Treasurer was receptive to the comments presented while remaining committed to the details of the recently introduced package.

Property Council of Australia issued this summary following the meeting:

The Property Council, Urban Development Institute of Australia and Master Builders met with the Treasurer to put forward the industry’s concerns regarding components of the Homes for Victorians package (the Package).

While the Treasurer remains committed to the Package and intends for it to proceed in its current form, he acknowledged that components of the package, particularly regarding changes to off-the-plan concessions for investors, will be monitored closely.

The Treasurer reinforced the Government’s dedication to maintaining Victoria’s strong property industry and has committed the Government to monthly meetings with industry to review the effect of the Package.

We appreciate the time and effort that the Government has put into working with the industry, and we look forward to collaborating with them to provide market-based solutions as our concerns come to fruition.
