Master Builders Victoria CEO Rebecca Casson is quoted on Page 8 of The Age today. 'Push for building industry to trial easing of COVID-19 restrictions'.
The article details the joint letter, signed by MBV and a united group of employer associations and unions, sent to Dan Andrews calling for further stimulus and support for trialling ways of safely increasing productivity and boosting the economy. To read the letter click here.
Forecasts by MBV show that if nothing is done to boost confidence and renew new home sales, our state could experience an estimated $6 billion+ decline in building and construction activity and a further $2 billion reduction in property-related Victorian State Government revenue.
Rebecca said, "The building industry is well advanced with established physical distancing, hygiene measures and other processes in place. We can, therefore, trial new ways of working during the easing of restrictions."
Our industry has demonstrated its capacity to safely help lead Victoria's economy through and beyond the COVID-19 crisis. We urge Dan Andrews to combat the downward economic trend by trialling new ways of working when restrictions are eased.
