Members will recall that the Fair Work Laws Amendment (Proper Use of Worker Benefits) Bill 2017(the Bill) was referred to the Education and Employment Legislation Committee (the Committee) for inquiry and report by 10 November 2017. The Committee has released its report, recommending that the Senate pass the Bill, subject to a review of the wording of proposed section 329LD in light of concerns raised that it would not allow for a gift or donation to be made to charities by a worker entitlement fund. The Bill is expected to go back before the Senate early in the new year.
