We urge members to be proactive in managing this cyclical safety issue by planning for the summer months. Guidance on working in heat is available from the WorkSafe website. The Master Builders OHS Unit can also provide assistance on the development and implementation of working-in-heat policies.

Members should note that under both Industry EBA 2011-2015 and CFMEU Pattern EBA 2016-2018 inclement weather provisions, employees are entitled to receive payment for ordinary time lost through inclement weather for up to 32 hours in every four week period, commencing 28 February 2005.

Ordinary time lost due to inclement weather in excess of the 32 hours in a four week period is unpaid. The next four week cycle commences on 17 December 2018.

We remind members that employees must also remain on the job until the inclement weather provisions have been observed in order to be eligible to receive payment.

Members seeking further information are encouraged to contact the IR Department on (03) 9411 4560.
