October was another busy month of media activity for MBV as our team’s continued advocacy ensured all of our building and construction members went back to work.
The media team set a record for the number of media releases released during the month with 16 as we lobbied policy makers and ensured our voice was heard strongly in the media.
Subjects included the reopening of building and construction, our award-winning Regional Residential Builder of the Year awards, new home building approvals, APRA changes to home lending, vaccination trials, concern over the new Windfall Gains Tax, calls for the return of indoor renovations, building and construction insolvencies, and a push to highlight the number of Victorian women in building and construction.
There were TV media appearances on Channel 7 for CEO Rebecca Casson to herald the full return of the building and construction industry.
Print highlights included a feature in the Geelong Advertiser on a vaccination trial, building materials concern in the Herald Sun, a COVID-19 protocol gap highlighted by MBV in the Herald Sun online, building approvals up nearly 50 per cent in the Herald Sun, Renovation ban set to end early in The Age, Industry unites against Windfall Gains Tax in the Geelong Advertiser and Trade is woman’s work also in the Geelong Advertiser. Our monthly home approval data and building and construction insolvencies also got good coverage in the Surf Coast Times.
Our popular Regional Residential Builder of the Year awards got good media pick-up across the state including the Border Mail in Albury, Shepparton News, Warrnambool Standard, Mansfield Courier, Geelong Advertiser, and the Bellarine Times.
The headline of the month went to the Herald Sun for “They came, sawed and conquered” on Victorian women leading the way when it came to getting on the tools.
