MBTI seeks industry representatives

One of our fundamental responsibilities at Master Builders Training Institute (MBTI) is to ensure our training reflects current industry practices and needs.

We need your input

We are seeking industry representatives willing to provide input for the design of the new Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) qualifications. These courses are key components in the Builder Registration process - your input will ensure we are equipping future builders will all the skills they need to succeed.

Background

As part of the regular review of training packages, in 2018, the Australian Government commissioned the review, renewal and development of the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) qualifications.

The commissioned body responsible for overseeing this review, Artibus, has been updating these qualifications. We expect the updated qualifications will be published in early 2020.

While the review outcomes are yet to be finalised, we anticipate the qualifications will increase in duration. This is a result of some key focus areas arising from the review that include the need for increased content on sustainability and project supervision.  As a result, qualifications will be longer.

Certificate III and IV in Work Health and Safety qualification update

Update

Master Builders Training Institute (MBTI) is transitioning to both of the following qualifications:

• BSB30719 Certificate III in Work Health and Safety
• BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

As part of this transition, MBTI consulted Master Builders Victoria’s OHS committee and other industry stakeholders to redesign these new courses to meet industry need.

Important: Students studying the superseded Certificate III and IV in WHS must finalise their studies by 29 August 2020. This is due to the Australian Skills and Qualifications Authority (ASQA) compliance requirements.

Note: Old versions of the Health and Safety qualifications will continue to be recognised by industry.

Background

The commissioned body, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), recently reviewed the Work Health and Safety (WHS) qualifications as part of the regular review of training packages. As a result, the above qualifications have been endorsed as the latest versions released and published on 30 August 2019 on training.gov.au.
