Making the most of its location and natural surrounds, this home is perfectly designed to the client’s lifestyle. It is constructed of recycled bricks, featured both outside and inside the home. The kitchen finishes include marble benchtops and glass-lined joinery complementing the Art Deco recycled doors, marrying two eras in a sympathetic manner. Both buildings had to meet the same deadline, so management and correct implementation of the design was of the upmost importance. Newhaven College’s Senior Learning Centre and Specialist Facility comprises of two separate buildings each with specialised uses including laboratories and art rooms, and casual spaces for staff and students to enjoy. The contemporary exterior is a project highlight with the facade made off-site. The interior of each building features spacious and light-filled areas that will provide students with state-of-the-art functionality and comfortable, contemporary styling.
Aimed to make entertaining simple, the clients’ brief was to build a warm and comfortable outdoor living area, with varied textures creating a ‘barn-with-charm’ theme. The open space has the option of year-round entertaining by having bi-fold doors to separate the two areas. This area has everything needed to accommodate family and friends, including a spa. The design was drawn by Goriuk Designs with help by the client to get the best possible result for the required area. The execution of the design has been made with the highest-quality materials, fixtures, fittings and appliances. The outdoor area has a great connection with interior of the home and the space has been well used since its completion.

The home required a large amount of external and internal detailing. Offering seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living, this home uses light-filled spaces to achieve stunning aesthetics and functionality of the living and workspaces. A 4-metre-high glass window along the northern face in the main living area, incorporating clerestory glazing over the alfresco area, allows light to stream into the dining and kitchen space and is a key feature of the home. The focus on the design was to create a low-maintenance home and garden that could be zoned, so the owner could essentially live comfortably in the main living and bedroom, and when guests arrive the other wings could be opened to cater for them.
This unusual home, located on an acreage plot overlooking the hinterland to Bass Strait, consists of three interconnected pods that have been designed to provide a flexible living space that doubles as a work space for the owners. Constructed of recycled bricks and slightly elevated to maximise the vistas, the home sits strongly in its environment. Each pod serves a unique purpose. The main pod is used for everyday living, the southern pod houses a master suite and the northern pod is used for work and as guest accommodation. The key feature throughout the design is the exposed trusses, which were adapted from an original historical truss design. One external wall incorporates the truss into the window design. The timber floors throughout are constructed from Sydney blue gum, and recycled timber in the bathrooms add warmth and age to a new build.
Designed to make a commanding statement on the one-acre allotment, this home offers an impressive street presence with its stone cladding and shingle roof. The dramatic formal entrance to the home is created with a vaulted entry, with feature wrought-iron gates to the porch and sides. Double-wrought iron doors lead into the formal lounge providing a view to Mt Baw Baw through vaulted 4 by 6.6 metre windows. The floor plan places the master suite in the west of the home with the remaining three-bedroom accommodation located separately to provide significant and private accommodation for the client's adult children, including an ensuite to each bedroom. Outdoor living was a focus of the design, with a large patio under the roofline, taking advantage of the northern aspect of the living areas and incorporating a gas fire pit central to the entertainment area.

Just a short walk from the beach, the home features roofing of specialist-grade, colorbond ultra steel, suited to more demanding environments, like those by the sea. The bathroom walls are clad from floor to ceiling in Lamipanel to create a sleek, modern finish and facilitate ease of cleaning. The design of the six units includes a linkway between each two, to enable dual occupation if required, or closing-off for complete privacy.

This home features a 4kW solar power system with grid connection. The home also offers low-energy LED lighting throughout. There is a wood-fire heater in the living room for atmosphere and comfort. Cooling is via reversible ceiling fans installed throughout the home, which circulates air in summer and draw heat down during winter. The home features well-positioned flyscreened windows and doors to aid cross ventilation. Internal blinds reduce heat gain from the west. Water conservation is also highlighted with rainwater tanks fully plumbed to the home and garden taps, which ensures the home occupants are always water self-sufficient.

Situated in the Cape Eco Community, where a minimum 7.5- star sustainability rating is mandatory for all homes, the design is a collaboration among the designer, builder and energy rating professionals to create a range of homes which achieve optimal energy efficiency and achieve ‘CORE’ an acronym for “carbon-positive” “zero-waste” “recycled” and “economical”. The home features generous living areas, light-filled spaces and a functional layout with plenty of storage throughout, and a separate garage.
The Latrobe Regional Gallery is one of the largest galleries in Eastern Victoria. This refurbishment was undertaken with a fixed deadline and was completed within an extremely tight time frame. The works included the demolition and removal of the existing facade and ceilings, and the creation of new window and door openings. Features of the gallery include a new timber-lined entry, solid timber reception counter, floor-to-ceiling glass sliding and stacking doors to the cafe, solid timber display shelving, newly polished timber floors to the galleries and an intricate suspended ceiling. This ceiling not only looks like it’s part of an exhibition but also adds acoustic baffling to the gallery. The first major art exhibition was opened on time and in a beautifully crafted art gallery, with many of the spaces fitted out to an international museum standard.
Consisting of eight general-purpose classrooms designed in the manner of a modern, open- plan collaborative learning space and an administration and staff work area, the Yarram Primary School has become a prized asset for education in the area and will become a much-loved learning space for generations to come. TS Constructions managed the entire project from start to finish. Demolition, including removal of asbestos, site works to level the site, construction and finishing of the buildings and final landscaping and civil works were completed in a safe and effective manner. The site was meticulously managed ensuring all students, teachers, visitors and tradespeople were appropriately protected and that impacts on the environment were minimised.
Newhaven College’s Senior Learning Centre and Specialist Facility is composed of two separate buildings. The Senior Learning Centre features classrooms, common and locker areas, a senior student lounge, lecture theatres, a lift and outdoor student areas at the front and the back of the new building. The specialist facility features science laboratories and classrooms including an arts room, makers room, storage facilities staff rooms and special breakout areas. Each building was constructed of steel with angled tilt panels to the base, Equitone cladding, and metal facade to fascias. Metal louvers were also used at the front facade of both buildings. These were designed for both aesthetic and shade purposes and are an outstanding feature. They were produced off-site and assembled within a millimetre’s tolerance on site.
